A good number of the honorables were surprised by each other’s presence as they had not met physically for some time. Some of them did not even know each other since most of them are new to the cabinet.
‘’Parliament is due to resume Plenary sittings on Tuesday, July 13, 2021. Members and staff of Parliament will, therefore, be requested to undergo mandatory Covid-19 testing at the Parliament Gardens,’’ Kibirige said.
They also asked journalists and security covering Parliament to take the tests. The process involves inserting a 6-inch-long swab into the cavity between the nose and the mouth for 15 seconds.
This helps in collecting enough samples so as to get accurate results.
Doctors will then put the swabs into small containers and send to laboratories for testing. They will release the results for the legislators on Monday.
They prioritize Covid-19 tests in groups to minimize spreading the infections by individuals who are already sick. Consequently, they will advice the MPs and staff who test positive to isolate.
Contrary to this, some MPs proposed that they should give those that test positive separate space on grounds with tents and microphones.
Through this, even the sick MPs can get a chance to participate in Parliamentary sittings.
