The late Kato Lubwama’s family has vowed to teach singer Lil Pazzo an unforgettable lesson. This is after the Enkudi singer plagiarized the late dramatist’s song.
Lil Pazzo earlier this week released a song titled “Irena…Weee”. This was simply a copy and paste of Kato Lubwama’s Kilabe Ebiiso.
The singer was served by M/s Maldes Advocates about copyright infringement of the late singer’s song.
Read part of the notice below;
“We represent the family of the late Kato Lubwama Paul on whose instructions we wish to address you as hereunder.
The late Kato Paul Lubwama was the original composer of the song titled “Kilabe Ebiiso” and the same is copyrighted under his name.
Our clients have since learnt of your infringement against the aforesaid copyright, through your recently released song titled ‘IRENA WEeee….”, which is commonplace on the different media platforms and airwaves both in and outside Uganda.
The lyrics, rhythm and beat used in your song are a direct replica of the late Paul Kato Lubwama’s original composition “Kilabe Ebiiso”. And they do not only amount to Plagiarism but are actionable at law,” the notice to Lil Pazzo partly read.
The singer has now been instructed to immediately take down the song from all media platforms. He was also told to offer a formal apology for the aforementioned infringement.
Then also publicize the same on all media platforms where the song is being played. Lil Pazzo also has to pay for the damages to Kato Lubwama’s family amounting to three hundred million shillings. He will also have to pay 20m shillings as legal fees to the law firm.
Lil Pazzo was given 14 days from the issuance of the notice to adhere to the requirements lest legal proceedings be followed.
