He also flew to Spain with the rest of the squad, where they are set to play Girona in the UEFA Champions League.
Allison has been on the sidelines since the start of October after he picked up a hamstring injury. This was while playing against Crystal Palace.
“Alisson is back and he’s fit, ready to play tomorrow against Girona,” said Liverpool manager Arne Slot.
The 32-year-old has been deputized by Irish goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher who has done an incredible job. Speaking about the Brazilian’s availability to start, Slot said “Yes, he is. If you can play with Alisson who has been so outstanding for so many years for Liverpool and for the Brazil national team, it speaks for itself really. It is nice to have him back and available. But if you look at how his replacement did, it is not easy to do better. Caoimhín did so well so we can say that we have two great goalkeepers that can both do the job for us. For so many years [Alisson] has been so outstanding. So we are expecting him to do the same for the next few months.”
Liverpool are currently top of the newly formatted Champions League table. They are also likely to qualify for the knockout stages in the round of 16. They have also gone seven weeks minus conceding a goal in the UCL ever since Alisson went out injured.
