This account frequently films women from behind in Kampala without their knowledge.
Luke Owoyesigire stated that this is troubling and possibly illegal, as it disrupts people’s ability to move freely around the city, with individuals waking up to capture them on camera.
“There’s a TikTok account constantly recording the backs of women moving around Kampala. This is disturbing and feels illegal. People can no longer move around the city in peace. Kwegamba omuvubuka akela kumakya kukola content wakukwata bifananyi ebyo,” he expressed.
Undoubtedly, many TikTok creators are funny and have resorted to increasingly bizarre methods to create content. Privacy in public spaces has diminished. Individuals may find themselves trending on social media due to an unknown person recording them without consent.
While some recordings have contributed to security or evidence collection, many actions by so-called top TikTokers violate personal privacy.
Quite a few individuals have even vowed to confront these TikTokers physically if they catch them secretly filming people in public.
The platform has also led to the emergence of numerous foolish individuals vying for attention. If they do not release their perverted videos to gain popularity, they resort to insulting and using vulgar language against each other or targeting disliked public figures.
Moreover, the platform has transformed into a source of misinformation.
