Camping will commence on the 5th of October 2020, and this will be for all the different colleges. Mr. Kakumba Umar, the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs revealed through a circular.
This program has apparently already been approved by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE).
The University has already drawn a tentative roadmap to guide the process of resuming the teaching and learning under the emergency ODEL mode.
The six weeks of this program will entail issuing and receiving coursework and also writing of final examination. This means the lecturers plus the students have to work round the clock to make sure that they efficiently use the 6 weeks.
Mr. Kakumba also in this circular urged the different colleges and departments to use this time to develop schedules and also reach students. He emphasized the need to sensitize students so as they can adequately prepare and know what is required of them in this e-learning process.
Makerere is not the only University that has adapted e-learning process. Recently the Uganda Christian University also came out to announce they will be conducting examinations online.
We can say this is a very good thing for the education sector and it can also continue post covid. Some universities ever carried out virtual graduations.
