Deborah Nantongo, famously known as Mami Deb, recently disclosed details about her upcoming wedding reception with Michael Cleave. The couple has chosen a lavish hotel in the Maldives, the same location where they exchanged engagement vows.
In a conversation on The Unpopular Opinion podcast, the Kampala Creme celebrity shared that hosting the wedding at this upscale venue comes with a hefty price tag.
Each plate of food on the wedding day is set at a staggering $200 (approximately Shs738,000) per guest, underscoring the extravagant nature of their celebration.
Due to the exorbitant costs involved, Mami Deb and her fiancé have opted to keep the guest list small.
Initially planning for only 20 attendees, the numbers have begun to swell as unanticipated individuals seek invitations to the exclusive event.
A Peek into the wedding preparations herein
Despite the substantial expenses, Mami Deb made it clear that they are taking care of all the costs for their guests and have refrained from soliciting contributions, diverging from the customary practices observed in Ugandan wedding customs.
While the exact wedding date remains undisclosed, Mami Deb hinted that the ceremony is slated to take place in the coming months.
The comprehensive wedding package offered by the Maldives hotel covers essential services like makeup, photography, videography, music, and decorations.
Having overseen the planning for their traditional Kwanjula ceremony, Mami Deb revealed that her partner, Michael Cleave, has taken the reins for organizing the white wedding, which she amusingly refers to as “the easy part.”
Beyond the wedding arrangements, Mami Deb candidly shared that her affluent partner often attracts attention from women seeking his favor, even encountering such advances in unexpected locations such as banks.
