Man In Isingiro Kills Brother Over Shs5000 Debt

ISINGIRO: Police are holding a 20-year-old Abahe David in its custody for the murder of his younger brother Abasa Joshua aged 13. David is a resident of Omukihangire cell, Bungongi Parish, Nyakitunda cell, Isingiro district.

David saw it fit to kill his younger brother Joshua after the latter demanded the former for his shs5,000. Apparently, the lending of the money happened on 23rd May, 2022. Last week is when the incident happened.

According to Fred Enanga, Uganda Police Spokesperson, David got a panga, cut his brother’s finger off, inflicted multiple head injuries and broke his neck.

After that, he dragged the body and put it in his house. Authorities eventually arrested and charged him with murder.

Elsewhere, police has launched a serious manhunt for a 15-year-old male juvenile, Sserugga Samson. Samson is a pupil of Mabombwe Church of Uganda Nursery and Primary School.

Authorities accuse him of murdering his 4-year-old younger sister, Namubiru Desire. This happened at their home in Mabombwe Kirindi village, Mende sub county, in Wakiso district.

“The victim had serious injuries on the forehead, the face, arms, stomach, back and legs. She succumbed to the injuries. Both the mother of the victim Namubiru Daisy and the suspect concealed the murder until when it was brought to the attention of the police,” Enanga noted in a statement on Tuesday.

Enanga further said that many families consider sibling abuse as a normal passage and because of that, most children experience it. However, he said it is quite higher in families that have domestic violence going on or child abuse.

“Young children are particularly vulnerable and told to keep family matters private. They are often threatened not to report it to anyone for fear of breaking family bonds or threats of punishment. In addition, other families regard violence between siblings as rivalry, and simply advise the victims to either toughen up or fight back,” Enanga said.
