Manchester United have been hit with a double injury blow ahead of the 2024-25 Premier League season which starts in a fortnight from now. New signing, French defender, Leny Yoro will be out for 3 months while Danish striker, Rasmus Hojlund will miss 6 weeks.
After a disappointing last season, the Red Devils hope to start the new campaign under new ownership, INEOS. They have been busy in the transfer window after being plagued by injuries last season especially, in the backline.
Yoro, 18, just signed a five-year contract with the Red Devils last month following a £52m move from Lille. In the Red Devils’ defeat to Premier League rivals, Arsenal, he suffered a foot injury.
This was during a preseason friendly against Mikel Arteta’s side in Los Angeles. He was spotted walking on clutches and putting on a protective boot. This was before Man United’s other preseason game against Real Betis. He’s expected to be back around October.
Meanwhile, Erik Ten Hag will also be without Rasmus Hojlund. The Dane picked up a hamstring injury and is expected to be on the sidelines for close to 6 weeks.
United will end their preseason club friendlies by playing Liverpool on Saturday in Columbia. They will then play Manchester City in the Community Shield on Saturday next week. They begin their Premier League campaign on Friday August 16 against Fulham at Old Trafford.
