Man United had played three games without a win in this campaign’s Europa League with all games ending in stalemates. This was under former manager Erik Ten Hag.
The club has however been on fire under interim manager, Ruud Van Nistelrooy as they have won three games and drawn one against Chelsea.
Amad Diallo, who saw limited minutes under the Dutchman and was rumored to be discontented with his lack of playing time, started the game last night. And he repaid the manager’s trust as he netted two goals in the second half.
The 22-year-old said that he couldn’t wait to work with United’s new boss, Ruben Amorim. Amorim takes charge on the 24th of this month.
“I can’t wait to work with him! I’m very happy to have Amorim as new coach. I like to celebrate with the fans and give them joy. I’m happy to score again. I’m here to do my best for Man United,” the youngster said.
Meanwhile, this was Manchester United’s first win in European competitions in about 80 days. Van Nistelrooy will take charge of his final game as the interim manager this weekend in the Premier League. His side will host Leicester City at Old Trafford.
