Many Clubs Approached Me But I Only Wanted Man United – Ruben Amorim

New Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has claimed that a lot of clubs approached him for his services in the past few months but he rejected them in favor of Manchester United. Amorim who has been with Portuguese side Sporting CP added that no Sporting fan wanted him to stay more than he did but he couldn’t t turn down the chance.

Additionally, the former FC Porto manager said that he asked Man United if he could join at the end of this season. They however rejected the idea and told him that it was now or never.

“I’ve received approaches from many clubs in recent months… but the club I wanted was Manchester United. There is no Sporting fan who wanted me to stay until the end of the season more than I did. But it wasn’t possible. I asked Man United if I could join at the end of the season. It was what I wanted but Man United said no. It was now or never. So I had to make a decision and I said yes,” Ruben Amorim said.

The Portuguese will be taking charge of his first game on 24th November in the Premier League against Ipswich Town.

The Red Devils will hope that the form he has had Sporting CP flying at the Primera Liga and the Champions League is replicated at Old Trafford.

His side has so far played 9 games in the Portuguese league winning all of them. They also sit top of the 32-team Champions League table.
