Minister Margaret Muhanga Disappointed With NRM’s Hasty Move To Replace Oulanyah

Burahya County MP, Hon Margaret Muhanga, has come out to express her disappointment in the NRM, the party she hails from on how fast it is trying to replace the late Speaker, Hon Jacob Oulanyah.

Hon Muhanga who is also also the State Minister for PHC said that she has never hated death more than she does now.

This is because it’s just only a few days since Hon Oulanyah passed away but people are already scrambling for his job.

She went ahead to say that even though the law stipulates to have a speaker immediately, Oulanyah should be replaced with humility. Muhanga condemned the shrewd manner in which the Speaker’s job is being scrambled for like tomorrow won’t ever come.

“I’d never hated death more than I do now. The Rt Hon Oulanya died two days ago and people are scrambling for his job like he never lived!!! Psalms 37:2, Isaiah 40:8. We wither & perish but He changeth not. Glory be to God. The fight for his constituency is loading ………

Even if the law stipulates that there should be a speaker immediately, we should replace Hon Jacob with humility and calmness. Not in a shrewd manner like tomorrow won’t come. There will always be tomorrow my brothers and sisters,” Hon Margaret Muhanga tweeted.

It was reported that the NRM CEC yesterday convened to decide on who to endorse as their next speaker.

Although details of this said meeting are not yet clear, a number of MPs have expressed their interest in the job.

There are about thirteen individuals who have shown interest in running for the Speakership. These include;

“Full list: Anita Among – D/Speaker

Jacob Oboth Oboth – Minister of Defense (General duties)

Jackson Kafuuzi – Deputy Attorney General

Jane Ruth Aceng – Minister of health

Hamson Obua – Minister of State for Sports

Amos John Okot – Agago North

Theodore Ssekikubo – MP, Lwemiyaga

Pius Wakabi – Mp, Bugahya county

Florence Akiiki Asiimwe – Masindi Woman MP

Felix Okot Ogong – MP, Dokolo South

Sarah Opendi – Tororo. Woman MP

Atima Jackson Lee Buti – MP, Arua City central division

Brandon Alex Kintu – MP, Kagoma North.”

It’s however said that one of the ministers has resigned from his job to take on this race. These will however have to wait for a resolution from the NRM’s CEC decision today and tomorrow respectively.
