Ronald’s family rushed him to the hospital on Wednesday last week after his condition became unbearable.
A close family friend to the late businessman, Mr. John Kataza said they first took Ronald to Masaka Regional Referral Hospital.
He lasted only three days there and his medical condition deteriorated due to the hospital’s lack of a stable oxygen supply, hence seeking referral at Platinum hospital.
Mr. Kataza said arrival at Platinum Hospital relieved them since the facility had oxygen. But to their disappointment, they found it too congested and filled with Covid-19 patients.
The son to the deceased, Mr. Ronnie Lukwago, observed that they found the congestion unbearable hence transferring him to Nakasero.
‘’Dad’s condition didn’t improve as he was struggling to breathe. So we decided to take him to Nakasero Hospital, but unfortunately, he died in the ambulance as they drove him out of Platinum Hospital gate,’’ Ronnie said.
According to the son to the late Masaka businessman, Ronald had diabetes and hypertension which put him at risk of being weakened by Covid-19.
Mzee Ssentongo, as referred to by many, was the proprietor of Ssentongo House, a commercial complex along Edward Avenue.
They will lay him to rest on Sunday at his ancestral home in Kyakonda Village, Kyotera District.
