This followed CCTV footage released by Uganda Police showing different boda boda accidents. Some of these happen in such a reckless yet avoidable manner.
Apparently, some of these riders ride as if they left their minds somewhere else and despite an accident being described as a sudden happening, these riders hugely contribute to the accidents sometimes.
Therefore according to the Misubawa singer, these riders should medically earn the right to carry passengers.
This would help in reducing avoidable accidents at times and is good for everyone’s safety.
“After watching that disturbing video released by Uganda Police showing boda accidents, I believe it’s important that all boda boda riders be medically examined and considered fit to ride. They must pass traffic exams to earn the right to carry passengers, for everyone’s safety,” the singer said.
This is something that the majority of his followers and the public agree with. Many have taken a boda boda at one time and have seen how reckless they are. On top of not respecting traffic laws, they are so disrespectful towards their fellow road users.
And on Ugandan roads, it’s everyone for themselves and God for us all. No one is going to look out for you while using these roads.
Hopefully KCCA’s directive of having all boda boda ridfers in Kampala registered goes a long way in curbing this scourge.
