These nandi sisters have shocked villagers

Sharon isn’t the only one enjoying soap in her family. The last 8 years, Sharon said she realized that her younger sister identified as Chepkemboi Lydia also developed hunger for soap.

One day I realized that Lydia was keeping a piece of soap in her pocket, I asked her why she had it, she surprised me by saying she eats soap. From then on, we became best friends because we always borrow soap from each other, ‘she said.

These Nandi sisters have shocked residents in their village, who always visit their home to witness this heinous habit.

When I was pregnant in 2014, I asked the doctor at Nyayo Hospital in Mosop whether soap might affect my health or my child, the doctor simply told me that it was his first time to meet someone eating soap,’she said.

She said her mother and grandmother would beat her to stop the habit of eating soap, but time reached and they gave up. She was used to and would enjoy eating soap because she knew it wasn’t poisonous.

My mother would hide the soap away from me, but I would steal it and sometimes I would lick the powder soap instead. I also eat food as usual. I have been working so hard to stop eating soap for the past two years, but all in vain,” she added.
