This is because of the bureaucracy involved in the awarding of rights to organizing concerts.
The Kankutendereze singer said that they have to move from one office to another to get clearance. All this involves spending a lot of money to get ones way to the final conclusion.
He however urged these policymakers to know that music is their livelihood.
“As both singers and promoters, we are disappointed with the bureaucracy in getting clearance for these concerts. It involves a lot of offices and we have to leave money in each of these. This usually leaves us penniless at the end of the shows after paying everything. The policymakers however need to learn that this is our job and livelihood. It’s where we get everything to sustain our families,” Mesach said.
He also applauded Mawokota North MP Hilary Kiyaga aka Dr Hilderman for prioritizing the plight of artistes. Hilderman has been fronting the copyright law which singers believe will safeguard their work.
Mesach urged other MPs who fall in the entertainment industry to support Hilderman.
