Michael Bolton says doctors discovered a tumor in his brain and it required immediate surgery. The 80s and 90s hitmaking singer/songwriter revealed his diagnosis in a social media post, saying he found out about the tumor and went under the knife just before the 2023 festive season.
Michael says the health issue presented “unexpected challenges,”. However, he says the surgery was successful and he’s recovering at home, where he’s being loved and supported by friends and family.
Michael Bolton, 70, was scheduled to head out on the road at the beginning of February. He had international tour dates planned throughout the year.
However, he says that he needs time to recuperate from the surgery. He hopes that he’ll improve to resume live performances.
“For the next couple of months, I will be devoting my time and energy to my recovery. Which means I’ll have to take a temporary break from touring,” he said. “It is always the hardest thing for me to ever disappoint my fans or postpone a show. But I have no doubt I am working hard to accelerate my recovery and get back to performing soon. I am beyond grateful for all the love and support you have so generously shown me through the years. Know that I’m keeping your positive messages in my heart. And I’ll give you more updates as soon as I can.”
Throughout his career, Bolton has sold over 65 million records worldwide. He has accrued nine respective number-one singles and top-ten albums.
Last July, he released “Spark of Light,” his first album of original music that he had co-written in almost 15 years. Outside of music, he competed on “The Masked Singer” in both 2021 and 2023.
Last year, he also made a guest appearance on two episodes of “Awkwafina is Nora from Queens.”
