Michelle’s winning best audiobook, narration and storytelling was known as The Light We Carry: Overcoming In Uncertain Time.
The awards took place on Sunday during the 2024 Grammy Awards pre-show. She beat nominees like Meryl Streep, Senator Bernie Sanders, William Shatner and Rick Rubin.
The book that Michelle was honoured for came out back in November 2022. It talks about her life and moments where she was filled with uncertainty.
It further highlights moments from being a rare African American undergraduate to becoming the first African American First Lady of the United States. She was however not in attendance.
Michelle won her first Grammy in the same category for her memoir Becoming in 2020. Last year, former president Barack Obama won the best narrator Emmy Award on for his Netflix documentary series, Our Great National Parks.
The Obamas’ production company, Higher Ground, was behind the five-part series on national parks around the world.
The Emmy joined Obama’s two Grammy awards putting him halfway to becoming an Egot – someone with an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award. By that time he also became the only second US president in history to win an Emmy.
The Netflix series showcased natural beauty spanning five continents and features locations including Chilean Patagonia and Indonesia.
