Minister Chris Baryomunsi Blocked From Accessing Lugoloobi At Kira Police

Last evening saw the Minister for ICT Hon Chris Baryomunsi getting blocked from accessing fellow Minister, Amos Lugoloobi. Lugoloobi who is the State Minister of Finance was arrested yesterday in connection with the theft of the Karamoja Iron sheets.

He was then taken to Kira Division Police.

After his arrest, Baryomunsi drove to the station to check on him but this wasn’t made possible. His car was instead blocked by a police van which parked in front of his.

The Minister wasn’t alone but with the likes of Hon. Aidah Nantaba, NRM Chairperson for Kayunga, Moses Karangwa and Kayunga LC5 Chairperson Andrew Muwonge. All these however were denied access to the Minister.

Lugoloobi becomes the second Minister in the Museveni cabinet to be arrested over the Karamoja iron sheets. The other was Karamoja Affairs Minister Mary Goretti Kitutu who just got bail after 8 days behind bars.

Lugoloobi will be produced in court on Monday as the DPP has already dished charges against him.

In February, the Minister acknowledged taking these iron sheets which he used to roof a shed for his goats. Despite returning them to the OPM’s office, he’s gone ahead to be arrested.

Meanwhile, sources further state that another big name is soon going to be arrested as his file has been cleared.
