Minister Frank Tumwebaze Reacts To Fellow Minister Musa Ecweru Being Slapped

Congregants were treated to a shocking surprise when a 39-year-old man stepped onto the altar and gave Minister Musa Ecweru a hot slap.

The incident has attracted attention and now his fellow minister Frank Tumwebaze has reacted too.

Through his Twitter page, the Minister of Agriculture said that he’s seen this incident being shared various social media sites sharing the incident. What’s more troubling to him is how people even make jokes out of this scenario.

According to Hon Tumwebaze, authorities should tighten security in regards to the VIPs.

He further implored Police to critically study such cases and come up with a solution. This is because this man or any other could have possesed a dangerous fatal weapon.

“I have seen many sharing this in various whatssap groups & making jokes over it. This raises serious concern in as far as VIP security is concerned. @PoliceUg should study such critically. What if he had a knife or a corrosive substance to pour at the minister?” Tumwebaze tweeted.

Fast forward, Minister Musa Ecweru attended Sunday mass at St. Michael Catholic Church in Wera Sub County in Amuria District. He had apparently gone to deliver a tractor to Wera Catholic Parish from the Ministry of Agriculture.

As the Minster was delivering his speech at about 11:30am, Mr Michael Okurut entered the church. He went straight to the altar and made the sign of the cross.

After this, he moved swiftly to the Minister who was speaking, whispered something into his ear before giving him a hot slap.

He attempted to give him a second one but the Minister blocked his hand before his security arrested the man. Currently, Okurut is behind bars according to the Mr Oscar Ageca, the acting police spokesperson for East Kyoga for interrogations.

“A case of assault was opened at Wera Police station where statements were recorded and the suspect is detained as inquiries and investigation into the matter is expedited,” Mr Ageca said.

The Daily Monitor contacted the Minister about this incident. He revealed that Mr Okurut is a mad man whose sickness attacks him occasionally.
