Missing Bride Claims Didn’t Want To Get Married To Man Chosen By Parents

Following a viral story that circulated on various media where a 24 year old bride went missing on Saturday, a day to her wedding has resurfaced and told police she didn’t like the man her parents had chosen for her.

The Metropolitan police spokesman Patrick Onyango told Newslex Point that Bushira Najjuko a resident of Katereke cell Kyengera Town council in Wakiso resurfaced on Tuesday and reported herself to Nsangi police station.

“She told police that she wasn’t interested in the man the family had chosen for her to get married to. She added that she had someone whom the family didn’t want,” Onyango told us.

In her statement that she recorded at the police station she explained that she had to ran away to show the family that she was interested in the man the family didn’t want.

“The bride told police that she bought the shoes and dresses with the money the family gave her for shopping and she sent a boda boda rider to take them home to show them that she doesn’t want the man.”

Furthermore Bushira told officers that whereas she was feared missing she had taken a hide to a friends home in Zana where she had been staying all this time.

However on her return the officers in charge handed back Bushira to her parents and warned parents to resist forcing children into marriage.

“ We appeal to parents not to force their children into marriage that they didn’t want.”
