Egyptian Football Star Mo Salah Slammed By Muslim Followers Over His Christmas Views

Egyptian football player Mo Salah is at the receiving end of backlash from his Muslim followers. The Liverpool forward took to his social media pages together with his family clad in Christmas wear before captioning the photo with Merry Christmas.

This saw comments filled with hate start pouring on the footballer who is revered in the Islam nations.

“You are a great player, a good human being. And God has blessed you with money, fame, and the love of people. Know who has provided you with all of this capable of taking it from you in the blink of an eye. Know that you celebrate a day in which they claim that God gives birth to the likes of us, and a day when God is cursed and insulted. So, do not be the seat and imprint of their actions. Respect the one who provided you with sustenance and gave you your dreams and purified him from the accusations of the people,” one follower decided to lecture the star.

“You are faced with two choices: either you change your name to the bottom of your action, or you rise with your action to the heights of your name. God help.”

“You prostrate to the one on Sunday if you score a goal and celebrate the one on Sunday that he has a son!? Every year and every year you repeat the same saying, you want to provoke the Muslims who support you, or what did you say before? Respect your Creator, who provided you with sustenance, and who bestowed upon you countless blessings, and every day you read (Say: He is God the One) and celebrate a religion that contradicts this saying according to what you read from the Qur’an.”

Majority of the hateful comments are from his Muslim followers.

They eventually pulled them down on social media. He however had the liberals and Christian followers to his rescue.

Some of these argued that many Christians wish Muslims happy holidays on their day of celebrating. Others argued that the world has moved on and those still entrapped by religious beliefs should let loose.

Mo Salah was not the only football player at the receiving end of backlash. The likes of Mesut Özip, Ikay Gundogan faced it rough from their followers over the Christmas posts.

It’s hugely intolerable and very denting to a Muslim’s lifestyle to associate with anything Christian. Simply put, there is a religious beef between Christianity and Islam.

However, most people who have traversed the globe are no longer held back by religious settings. Mo Salah plies his trade in Liverpool which is based in a Christian country, England.

Many in Liverpool have applauded his impact where they say hate crimes based on religion reduced greatly due to his stay in the city.
