4 more Tanzanian truck drivers have on Sunday tested positive for coronavirus in Uganda as the country’s confirmed cases jump to 79, according to health ministry.
The new confirmed cases were among the 1,578 samples that were tested among the cargo truck drivers who arrived via Mutukula border entry point on Sunday. Ministry of health confirmed that 411 samples which were taken from communities returned negative. 1,989 is the total number of samples tested on Sunday the 26th 04-2020.
As of now, the decision of Uganda and South Sudan government to deport Kenyans and Tanzanians who test positive for coronavirus has exhausted connections between EAC member countries, whereby cross-border movement of goods in the region are at a risk.
Uganda is officially known for having decided to repatriate Kenyan and Tanzanian truck drivers who tested positive for Covid-19, whereas South Sudan taskforce on Covid-19 pandemic also determined to evacuate two Kenyan patients by air.
As we talk right now long distance cargo truck drivers mainly from Kenya and Tanzania have become a key source of concern for Uganda, depending on how fast they imported the deadly virus cases.
