FUFA gave the three different days on which to pick nominations and return them in 48 hours.
Mujib was the first to drop out of the race citing a number of irregularities that FUFA implemented to aid Magogo back to office.
These included the short time FUFA gave them to collect the necessary signatures. Then the high fee of shs10M before collecting the nominations.
This left fellow MPs in the 11th parliament Moses Magogo and Allan Ssewanyana to tussle it out in the race.
FUFA went ahead to announce how Kasule and Ssewanyana had failed to return their nominations in due time.
“FUFA Electoral Committee announces that two FUFA Presidential aspirants Mr. Mujib Kasule and Hon. Allan Ssewanyana picked and failed to return forms within the set deadline.” FUFA wrote.
The two at first had petitioned the FUFA EC to have their time extended but this appeal was denied.
“Petition rejected because it raised no serious ground that prohibited the petitioners from returning the forms with basic requirements to participate in the polls and moreover no basis upon which the Committee could rely to assess their candidature.” FUFA further posted.
However, the body went ahead to announce how only Magogo had met the qualifications and returned his nomination papers.
“FUFA Electoral Committee announces that only one candidate Eng. Moses Magogo returned dully signed forms for the position of FUFA President. Magogo named his 14 man Committee that was released to the media today by the Electoral Committee as per Electoral Code.” The football governing body added.
This also means that Magogo has already assumed his third term in office. This happening even before the delegates conference set to sit in Mbale in August.
