FUFA President Moses Magogo is a living testament that Ugandans are a different kind of people. One day they are hyping you and another day they are tearing you to pieces. Magogo who was once-hated has now turned a fan favorite.
This follows the Uganda Cranes triumphant victory over Congo Brazzaville at Namboole Stadium last night. The Cranes won the tie comfortably 2-0 courtesy of goals from Aziz Kayondo and Jude Semugabi.
The packed stadium roared with full might at the full-time whistle and the chatter was turned to social media.
It should also be recalled that the Cranes had put up an unforgettable performance a few days earlier in South Africa.
They drew 2-2 with the Bafana Bafana boys after two world strikes from Denis Omedi and Rogers Mato. The Cranes now sit top of Group K with 4 points from two games in the 2025 Morocco AFCON Qualifiers.
Over the years, Magogo has faced immense criticism from a large section of fans and other sports figures. This has also been partly due to his political affiliations where he’s an NRM MP and is also the husband of the Speaker Anita Among.
Although these matters are football-unrelated, fans have always used them to drive their narratives against him.
FUFA also recently released the new jerseys of the National Team. However, after this win, everyone is now praising the FUFA president.
“We can all agree now that Magogo is the best FUFA president in Uganda’s football history,” one football fan said after the game.
“Hey Magogo, I’m sorry I wasn’t familiar with your game The jersey is amazing, now let’s go Uganda Cranes,” said another about the jersey.
But well, if the future results change and worsen, we can expect the criticism to resurrect.
