It would however be expected that at least one of the ways of giving back to the community it’s thriving in is by supporting the indigenous farmers.
According to a cup containing a teabag posted by the MP, the restaurant uses Ketepa Pride. Ketepa Pride is a Kenyan brand described as Kenya’s finest. With all the vast availability of tea in the country, scarcity wouldn’t be a problem.
The MP, therefore, urged Cafe Javas to engage them and tell them what is wrong with Ugandan tea.
This will help to add value and quality where due if indeed there is a problem.
“Dear @cafejavas_ug, what exactly is not fine with Uganda’s tea?? Feedback from the biggest restaurant in the country would greatly help to improve the quality of our tea!! Thank you in advance. @GCICUganda @Parliament_Ug,” the MP tweeted.
He further said that Uganda can’t keep importing even what she produces. The MP added that this is not blaming the restaurant but simply asking for advice and suggestions from it.
“When we get to understand what exactly lacks in our tea, then we can improve the quality. Uganda can’t be importing everything including what we produce. And no one is blaming @cafejavas_ug but when we learn where the weaknesses are, then we improve. That’s ma concern,” he added.
This is not a new phenomenon as many things in the country are imported. This is regardless of whether they are produced locally in bulk.
