Hilderman made this request while appearing on NBS TV’s Morning Breeze program. The singer-turned-politician made the comments in regards to the controversial coffee agreement that Kasaija signed on behalf of the Ugandan government with the Vinci company.
Hon Kiyaga said that coffee is a part of the Ugandan people. Therefore, this deal was a way of depriving Ugandans what is rightfully theirs. He further accused the government of failing to support indigenous people with great innovative ideas.
According to the NUP MP, when an official messes up on behalf of the country, they ought to resign and Kasaija should do this. The singer says that it is one way of putting the country back to order.
“Coffee is part of us, and I saw this Coffee deal as a way of taking away what belongs to the people. Government never supports people who have ideas that can add value, and this is not only in the coffee sector.
If you mess up on behalf of our country, you must resign. For that matter, Hon. Kasaija should have resigned. This is a signal that a lot has been going on that needs to be checked to put this country in order,” he said.
Further the MP said that the impunity exhibited in the country is the cause of all problems in the country. The NRM government therefore has to know that the country belongs to Ugandans.
Whatever they do affects the entire country. They should therefore go back to the drawing board and correct their wrongs.
