Yesterday’s plenary session had to be adjourned by the Deputy speaker of Parliament, Hon Thomas Tayebwa.
Taking up the podium, Hon Kinyamatama said that Zaake made derogatory and abusive comments about her while in Rakai.
She added that she couldn’t even utter these words through her mouth. However, she asked for the clip of the NUP MP saying these remarks be played.
Additionally, she revealed that an attack on her is an attack on all female MPs. Therefore, men who can’t respect women shouldn’t be protected at all.
“Let that video be played. I want the world to see what he said. Why are we covering up evil? An attack on a woman is an attack on all of us as female MPs. I have maintained my composure, but I want this house to witness what exactly transpired. We can’t protect men who don’t respect women. I cannot be called what he called me,” she said.
However, her request to play the video was opposed by Kira Municipality MP, Hon Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda. The vocal MP wondered how Parliament would listen to a video containing words that the Rakai MP herself couldn’t say.
Additionally, the former FDC spokesperson said that it’s a pity Parliament has to deal with issues that happen outside of its chambers.
This prompted Hon Tayebwa to forward the issue to the Parliament’s Rules, Privileges & Discipline for investigation. Kinyamatama however protested this and argued that they are trying to cover up for Zaake because he’s a man.
