President Museveni also thanked the press for really doing a great job. He really appreciates the good work, don’t think he does not appreciate your work.
He appreciated the medical workers, so far 47 people have been discharged. Our health workers are really skilled and knowledgeable, he said he is really proud of them.
Unfortunately we were diverted by the Shs20m of Parliament. First of all that was not good, there are also legal and constitutional issues which he said he doesn’t want to discuss here but i did discuss this with the Speaker..
The money given to MPs was a wrong move, it was wrong morally. I called the Speaker here and we talked about it. I told her that since they had already gotten themselves into that trap, they should take the money to the districts task force. So Ugandans please do not get angry and get diverted from the war,’said Museveni.
Those who went and bought things, that was not good enough, we will have to involve the Auditor General, that money is for the public, not for your personal use. Take it to the district task force. All Members of parliament who used the money wrongly will have to pay it back,’’he said.
He revealed that he likes this virus in a way because it has really woken people up, you see when it first came the Americans told us to fight on our own, that they could not help us, that is how we started to make our own sanitizers and other things
While tourism and these other sectors have gone down, manufacturing is coming up. We are going to make personal protective wear, the medicines. We shall manage, all we need is to adjust,’he added.
