They have therefore threatened to take legal action against the Ministry of Health over the unpaid arrears amounting to almost Shs2 billion.
Over 60 health workers through their lawyers of Makmot Kiwanga and Company Advocates sent a demand notice to the MoH. The unhappy workers include medical doctors, clinical officers, nursing officers, lab technicians and a psychiatrist.
They issued a 14-day ultimatum to have their money paid to them or they will take legal action against the ministry.
The letter reveals how the disgruntled workers were sent to Mubende from October 22nd to November 24th. They were deployed to an Ebola hotspot and epicenter without any employment contract.
Later after that, however, contracts were executed for a 6-month period from 25th November 2022 and May 2023.
Doctors were to receive Sh5.4 million monthly, clinical officers Shs2.6 million and Shs1.4 million for enrolled nurses. However, though, the MoH never realized this despite all attempts by the complainants.
The Ministry of Health is yet to respond to the health workers’ demands.
