Muhammad Ssegirinya, an opposition member of parliament (Kawempe North) was recently released from prison. He went around in different churches on Sunday testifying how Jesus Christ saved him from this situation.
The MP said the savior aided his exit from Kigo Prison to celebrate Easter with his voters and his mother. He used this day to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus together with other Christians.
Ssegirinya moved from St Paul Catholic Church in kyebando to St Kizito Catholic Church in Bwaise. As he moved along, he sought prayers from different church leaders.
“I thank God for helping me to come out of jail and I thank you Christian’s for praying for me. God has made it possible for me to celebrate Easter with you and my family,” he said.
The politician also shared his experience on the ordeal he faced with his counterpart, Allan Ssewanyana of Makindye West. He said he spent two Easter holidays and as many Christmas holidays with Ssewanyana.
Additionally, he then said he had not only come to church to pray with the Christians, but also to pray for other detained politicians.
At the moment, the two MPs are still struggling with cases of murder in the greater Masaka region that happened in 2021.
Following their release, they were ordered to report to the registrar of the International Crimes Division of the high court.
They are supposed to do this once every month. However, though, they were warned against interfering with investigations into their cases.
