For a long time, rumors have always flown across that they are preparing the military general to take over from his father.
Many have dubbed his rise in the army as undeserving and one of the plots to raise him to the country’s biggest office.
The Muhoozi project is one of those that ran across the Ugandan Twitter sphere with a number of influencers dubbing him next President come 2026.
In regards to disenfranchising Ugandans in favor of MPs voting for the President, Ssekabira said that he doesn’t think the aim of this move is to make Muhoozi the next president.
Apparently, Muhoozi doesn’t have the capacity to lead the country.
“They have been feeding us with a false Muhoozi Project narrative. I don’t think this election amendment is aimed at fronting Muhoozi because he doesn’t have the capacity to lead us. Muhoozi can’t be the President of Uganda as long as President Museveni is still around,” Hon Ssekabira said.
A few days ago, rumor had it that the NRM plans to have a constitutional amendment. This will see Ugandans’ right to vote for the president banned in favor of MPS.
The issue has however met widespread criticism from both the public and Opposition MPs. Some voices from the ruling NRM have also showed discontent towards this proposal.
The NRM however said that they have not raised the proposal yet. Once they do, they will surely debate about it and raise it to the people.
This won’t be the first time the Ugandan Constitution is defiled in favor of a certain group of people. It has over time been controversially amended to favor the government.
