He announced on Tuesday afternoon in a nation address on the situation of coronavirus pandemic in the pearl of Africa.
The Ugandan government has made a decision to add 21 more days of coronavirus lockdown starting from tomorrow, adding that this will allow them to monitor the situation long enough. However, all the previous guidelines are still in place,’said president Museveni.
According to the president, it would be too early for Uganda to announce that it’s free from Covid-19, although there only 54 positive cases from the total number of 5,664 samples tested so far.
‘By making the decision to go for 21 more days, it will help us to confirm that we are safer than to stop somewhere along the way, which will look premature. In case something comes up, it will be within these added 21 days, if nothing comes up, we shall definitely say that we have tried our best. Let’s not think that the 54 cases are the only ones we so far have.
