I first met Mrs Kato in Jinja at a farmer’s exhibition, where she was showcasing millet grinding. I was impressed because this lady was improving a local and rich food. I then donated a mill to her that she is still using,’’said Museveni.
The enterprise can be quite helpful to the community as an economic activity but also in terms of public health because of the rich benefits of millet.
The president said he met Mr. Kato through their struggle against Amin that started on February 11 1979 when he came here with Tanzanian troops. He was one of the people that attended a meeting he had called to reassure locals that they didn’t have to run from their homes on account of our struggle. He’s happy to be back to the area,
Through their hard work over the years, they have educated their children and are doing a commendable job with their grandchildren whom I have met,’’president said.
Their years together in marriage and years of existence as individuals have not been a waste.
I was pleased to be in their home as they celebrate this milestone.
