He declared through a press release on his social media platform. These prayers are going to specifically for Coronavirus resurgence in the country.
“President Museveni has declared tomorrow, Friday June 25th 2021 a public holiday and also a 4th National Prayer Session for interdenominational prayers as the country battles a rise in coronavirus infections. Uganda has recorded 74260 Covid infections and 752 deaths since March last year but in the last one month, the number of infections have increased by 17 folds whereas the number of deaths have also more than double,” the statement read in part.
“The President has used powers given to him under section 2(2) of the public holidays Act to declare tomorrow a public holiday to enable the country hold prayers to seek for God’s intervention in the ongoing covid pandemic.”
These prayers are going to be virtual unlike the previous. Prayer leaders shall lead via zoom but the president will at Entebbe statehouse. It should be noted that in all the previous addresses, Museveni has encouraged this kind of prayer sessions. According to him since God is everywhere, prayers online should not be a problem at all.
Members of the public have been encouraged to attend these prayers from their homes on all radio and TV stations.
