“The merry-making which is always associated with the festive season should not distract you from focusing on the spiritual significance of Christmas. May this Christmas renew your faith in God; bring healing and divine joy to your families,” he said.
He took the same opportunity to remind Christians to still observe SOPs as they should amidst all celebrations.
“As a country, God is helping us to emerge from the scourge of the deadly Coronavirus disease. I urge you to embrace the countrywide vaccination campaign and to continue observing the Standard Operating Procedures to curb the spread of the virus,” Museveni said in his Christmas message.
Christmas has come in the same mood as last year. The country is still crippling with Covid and now a new variant, Omicron. Cases have drastically increased lately which has put celebrations in jeopardy.
Almost everywhere you go, there is sneezing and coughing which are the signs of the Omricon variant. This means SOPs are to be highly observed as they should.
Meanwhile, people are not so excited as the previous years about the festive season. This is probably because of all the events that have followed Covid. People are still healing mentally and financially.
