During his speech, Museveni made these announcements while commissioning Good Will Ceramics Tile factory in Kapeka Liao Shen industrial park, Luwero District.
Museveni promised to fire dormant Government officials.
“Our people are intimidating our investors. They take much time to process their licenses. Our officials always waist time in sofas and enjoying their wants, and waiting for the investors to kneel for them. I am strictly cautioning such officials, and whoever does not support initiatives that lead to the development of this country and our Ugandans, I will expel them” Museveni said.
The President also clarified that the government is ready to work on the issues concerning costly work permits to foreign investors.
“And on the issue of work permits, I’ll solve any issues in that sector, how could someone expensively sell a mere work permit to a person coming to Uganda to invest?” Museveni felt surprised.
However, the Chinese Ambassador to Uganda, Zheng Zhuaiang, confirmed that many Chinese investors are expected to pop in the country following the tight relationship between Uganda and China business wise.
Don’t forget that in August, the President sent an official statement to the Finance Minister, Matia Kasaijja, indicating that any government official in URA who’s subjected to guiltiness of disappointing investors should be immedietely fired from that position.
