Muyingo Re-Echoes Warning Against Hiking School Fees

The government has warned private school owners against hiking school fees ahead of school reopening next week. State Minister for Higher Education, John Chrysostom Muyingo forwarded this message to private school owners.

He did this during the launch of the 32nd selection exercise for Tertiary Institutions at Nabisunsa Girls Secondary school on Tuesday, January 4.

‘’No private Institution will be allowed to make any school fees adjustments without requesting the ministry of education. This is because the Covid-19 pandemic affected even the parents,’’ Muyingo said.

He also wanted teachers to desist from forging the Covid-19 vaccination cards, saying that all the culprits will face the law.

The government set 10th-January 2022 as the date schools will commence reopening. With this comes a lot of challenges for both parents and school owners. Many parents are asking if these schools will ask them to pay school fees again.

Apparently, the last time they reopened schools, parents paid in their money, only for schools to be shut down again two weeks later.

They are therefore quite not sure if sending their children to school within the first and second weeks is a good idea.

Some have said they will not send their children back to school until at least three weeks have passed. That way, they will know there won’t be any sudden changes to the school system.
