Nakaayi Halimah Wins Gold In 800m At 2019 IAAF World Championships

Last evening, the Ugandan female runner, Nakaayi Halimah won a gold medal in women’s 800 meter final at the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) world Championships which are taking place at the National multi-purpose stadium Khalifa international Stadium in Qatar’s capital Doha.

Nakaayi Halimah broke a national record by posting 1:58.04. While Rogers Raeyn and Wilson Ajee from United States emerged 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Nanyondo Winnie finished 4th in the time of 1:59.18.

According to the President of Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF), Mr Otuchet Dominic, It’s really good news for Uganda after winning a gold medal in women’s 800 meter race. God is good.

Today on Tuesday the 1st October 2019, other Ugandan runners including Kiplagat Benjamin, Sikowo Boniface and Chemutai Albert will compete in 300 meter race.

Saturday marks the final round with crowds expected to gather in Kimana, close to Amboseli National Park and about 200km south of Nairobi. Cash prizes and even a breeding bull are at stake for the winning individuals and communities.
