Social media has been left with mixed reactions and divided opinions after the current Miss Uganda Natasha Nyonyozi visited the Kitezi landfill clad in her full attire and crown.
Under the Miss Uganda brand, Natasha and others such as the brand’s CEO, Brenda Nanyonjo visited the tragic place and expressed their sympathies to all the victims. Nyonyozi said they would try to help in any way they could.
“We have reached out to the victims to sympathize with them and help in any possible way we can. I want to thank the Red Cross and the Miss Uganda Pageant for the help rendered in terms of food and other amenities. I want to urge all those who can help to reach out and do so. We are also talking to all our sponsors to see that they help the victims. Most of all don’t forget to pray for these people,” she said.
However, some people took to social media to criticize her. This was largely due to her attire. They argued that this act was more of a marketing strategy rather than an act of good ‘samaritanship.’ Most couldn’t understand why she went there dressed the way she was.
“You don’t go visiting poor people looking like Napoleon’s wife with shades on? So you don’t see their misery? You always gotta fit in, be relatable!! Should enrol for my public relations master ASAP I charge y’all,’ said a user.
“Miss Uganda please we already know you are Miss Uganda, no hate but next time leave that crown at home people are looking for dead bodies not beautiful bodies,” went another.
However, others defended her saying people should focus on the message. It should be noted that Natasha Nyonyozi was crowned the 2024 Miss Uganda last month.
