NBS TV news anchor, Canary Mugume decided to take matters into his own hands by reporting singer, Nubian Li to his party superior, National Unity Platform’s Secretary General.
Apparently, a photoshopped image of Canary was posted on social media showing him presenting a news story.
The headline in this engineered photo seemed to bash NUP president Bobi Wine. The singer who is a Firebase deputy took this photo and posted it on his X Twitter page.
He went ahead to applaud the Naguru-based TV station for a job well done in pushing propaganda against NUP. He also alleged that the media house was paid by the regime to do this.
This is something that didn’t sit well with Canary Mugume. He said that with this level of blackmail, he was pondering on whether to continue listening to the singer’s music.
Canary bemoaned that Nubian Li had refused to delete the photo even after being pointed out that it was Photoshop.
Additionally, the journalist questioned whether these are the values that his party, NUP, represents.
With no signs of deleting the misleading post, the journalist decided to take the matter to the party superiors. He said that he had contacted the party secretary general, David Lewis Rubongoya about the issue.
Therefore, Rubongoya in turn promised to compromise with the singer. Eventually, Nubian Li deleted the post after a lot of social media criticism.
“I’ve addressed Nubian Li’s tweet of a fake picture of me to NUP secretary general. He’s promised to advise Nubian to take down the tweet because it’s misleading,” said Canary.
It should be noted that NBS TV is a media house that seems to be creating news about NUP always.
They have been caught hands down creating stories from where there is none, especially against NUP. Perhaps this is why Nubian Li shared a fake photo without thinking.
