NBS TV Bends To Pressure, Engages Women On Their Frontline Show

NBS TV has finally decided to bend to the pressure from their viewers to engage women on their Frontline show. According to some women, especially feminists, NBS TV has been sidelining women on this show and only inviting men. At first, it looked as though, they were going to do nothing about it. This is because their presenter, Daniel Lutaaya emphasized that they invite their panelists in regard to content, not gender.

“NBS Frontline is majorly about content. It is not empowering to simply bring on a woman or a man just because of their gender. We bring on guests, women and men basing on the week’s content,” Daniel Lutaaya wrote

However, this did not cool the fire but rather just set it ablaze. Many women came out to say, there are very capable women who can share content. Some went to the extent of saying Hon. Nambooze is not the only one with content among women.

“Daniel, you’re missing the point. There are lots of women who are very conversant with these topics whether they hold these titles and offices or not. You were just lazy to call them,” a one Hellen Nakyeyune

“Normalize inviting our one and only @SarahBireete , why do you invite Hon Namboze? So you want to fools us that besides Namboze, no woman can fit into your topics ?” a one Jane K wrote

All these dissatisfactions must have reached the table of those who produce this show. However, how justified were their claims? Looking at both sides, they had a point but what if at one point again, the topic doesn’t favor the presence of women on the show? Should everything be gender-based even when it is not called for?
