Nigerian Olympic Committee Blasted By Netizens For Incompetence After Runner Misses Out

Different Nigerians have taken to social media to blast the Nigerian Olympic Committee branding it corrupt and incompetent.

This is after one of the nation’s female runners failed to make the list of the 100m at the ongoing 2024 Paris Olympics.

Favour Ofili took to social media to express her disappointment and frustration at NOC. She said that she has been training for 4 years for this opportunity. It’s therefore a big blow that the opportunity has been taken away from her because of incompetence.

Ofili blamed the Athletics Federation of Nigeria and the NOC for the failure to enter her into the competitions. She said that she qualified for the finals but was shocked to find out that her name wasn’t submitted by these two bodies.

Read her statement below;

“It is with great regret that I have just been told I will not be competing in the 100 meters at this Olympic Games. I qualified, but those with the AFN and NOC failed to enter me. I have worked for 4 years to earn this opportunity. For what?”

Furthermore, she said that she wasn’t able to compete in the last Olympics because these same bodies failed to release funds for athletes to be tested. As a result, all the 14 Nigerian athletes who qualified did not compete.

“Please remember, in the last Olympic Games I was not able to compete because AFN, NADC and NOC failed to release funds for athletes to be tested. This made 14 Nigeria athletes that qualified to not compete. Now THIS……”

Favour Ofili who was so excited and eying gold said that her last hope remains in the 200m. She said that if those who took this opportunity from her are not held accountable, neither the Nigerian Olympic Committee nor the Athletics Federation of Nigeria can be trusted in future.

Besides, her hopes in the 200m hang in balance because she doesn’t know if she was entered.
