Nigeria’s Patoranking Finally Drops New Album Titled ‘Three’

Re-knowned Nigerian artiste Patoranking finally released his new album titled “Three” on Thursday. This is Patoranking’s third studio album via his own Amari Musiq imprint and US-based indie powerhouse, EMPIRE.

Three features some contemporary Nigerian music’s most essential acts such as fellow Nigerians Tiwa Savage, Flavour among others. Three also features collaborations with some of contemporary African music’s most essential acts. These include Sauti Sol in the song Whine IT  among others.

Patoranking is an international reggae star whose dancehall anthems Daniella, Whine Suh Different have resonated from Nigeria to Jamaica.

The album comes exactly one year after his sophomore album, ‘Wilmer’ dropped. Patoranking released his debut album, ‘God Over Everything’  in 2017.

The long and short of Three is that it might actually be Patoranking’s best album yet. It lacked the cluster that defined his polarizing but equally impressive debut, God Over Everything as well as the unassuming nature of Wilmer.

Three feels like the completion of the artistic experiment that Patoranking commenced on Wilmer. Three also contains some impressive – not pristine – pieces of songwriting that adequately serve their purpose.

Patoranking was disciplined enough to stay creatively vibrant even now that he is becoming an elder statesman in Nigerian music.

Zimbabwe/South Africa’s Mr. Kamera and Nigeria’s fast-rising TELZ who produced for Burna Boy and Olamide were the project heads. Mr. Kamera also produced for Mr. Eazi and Yemi Alade on different occasions.

Patoranking the star

Patoranking is one of Africa’s best artistes with many hits across the continent. Many of his hits vary from dance hall to reggae. At the same time, his Afro-pop collaborations with Tiwa Savage, Wande Coal have made him an international icon. Some of these hits include Girlie O with Tiwa, My Woman with Wande Coal among others.

He extended his influence as far as North America through partnering with US labels like Empire and VP records. His tracks have generated over 260 million views on YouTube and over 170 million streams on major DSPs.

He recently created the ALU Patoranking scholarship offering 10 scholarships to promising students across Africa.
