No Bags Allowed- MUBS Orders Students As Terror Threat Grows

Makerere University Business School has suspended the entry of students carrying bags into the university until further notice. Apparently, they will only allow transparent bags with books inside the university.

The announcement came due to the rising terror threat after twin bombs went off; one exploding at IPS building along Parliamentary Avenue, and another at CPS in Kampala. The bombings claimed lives of 6 people and leaving at least 27 with severe injuries.

The officer in charge of the MUBS police station noted in a circular that they have declared bags a serious security threat. This threat is on both the students and non-students hence the reason to ban them until further notice.

“MUBS like any other public place is accessed by all sorts of people from different places with different motives. Considering the current terrorism threat in the country, security is making all efforts to protect everyone both within and outside the university,” the circular read in part.

The university informed students that with effect from November 17 2021, security will not allow bags to enter MUBS gates until further notice.

Lonely light transparent bags for books will be allowed inside the university. A laptop bag with only a laptop inside will also be allowed,” the circular further indicated.
