With five players included in the best XI for the previous campaign, Arsenal dominated the PFA Premier League Men’s Team of the Year. The Gunners came dangerously close to winning the 2023–24 Premier League title, and on the last day of the season, Manchester City held onto their title by a two-point difference.
Mikel Arteta’s team was vying for the title for the second time in as many seasons. The Spaniard has assembled a team that can compete with City and is looking to advance this season.
Based on their accomplishments over the previous 12 months, five Gunners were picked for the 2023–24 PFA Team of the Year. Following his rookie season in the Arsenal goal, David Raya was named in goal.
William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães were also listed since they formed what may be the league’s strongest defensive duo, with Saliba standing out in the middle of defense.
In midfield, Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard were both picked. Following his £105 million transfer from West Ham United, Rice joined Odegaard in last year’s best XI.
Where other players come in;
The remaining backfield consisted of Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk and Manchester City’s Kyle Walker.
With Phil Foden and Erling Haaland in attack, Rodri secured a spot in the team with his outstanding midfield season. Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa completed the starting lineup following an exciting season in which he scored 19 goals in the Premier League.
Phil Foden was named the PFA Player of the Season after a scintillating campaign. This is after scoring 27 goals in his debut season at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea’s Cole Palmer won the PFA Men’s Young Player of the Year award. However, there was no place for him in the PFA team of the season.
