A two-day retreat happened in Entebbe from 18th-19th December 2021 under the theme ‘’Mobilization for Socio-economic Transformation’’. During the retreat, members adopted a strategic working and policy document written by the party National chairman, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
This will act as a guiding tool to the party leadership in the execution of its work.
The committee members appreciated the extraordinary and steadfast competencies of the Party Chairman, to whom they referred to as an un-relenting pan-African leader.
Furthermore, they said that NRM must at all times side with the legitimate interests of the people as opposed to those of the oppressors.
Such include sectarian politics of religion and tribe, gender chauvinism, corruption, selfishness, and opposition to African integration.
To promote the socio-economic transformation of people, members resolved to help rural farmers who own land to join commercial farming.
This would see them drop the common subsistence farming, something the president referred to as ‘working for the stomach’.
They also said the NRM government should ensure the improvement of social services and amenities through the enforcement of free education.
In addition, they advocated for cheap electricity for manufacturers, eliminating all sorts of crimes and theft through improved security services.
CEC commended the Secretary-General of NRM and the entire secretariat team on the vibrant and focused commencement of their tour duty.
For the follow-up of the resolutions, members agreed to meet again in February 2022. This will be for a further but in-depth sectoral discussion of the aforementioned work plan.
