Ever since NUP erupted, there seemed to be tensions between the two parties. This appeared to detoriate after the 2021 general elections. This was in the aftermath of NUP dethroning FDC as the biggest political party.
NUP has since then been at the centre stage of opposition politics dictating everything. FDC on the other hand has become a bit dim and no longer bears the vibrance it once had.
Even over time, officials from these parties have aimed digs directly and indirectly at each other once in a while. However, on the other hand, their leaders have also been seen on a number of occasions working hand in hand over a number of causes.
Hon Kanyike faulted the government for fueling the propaganda that NUP and FDC don’t work like each other. This would therefore make the opposition seem like its divided which is not the case.
“FDC and NUP work together. That talk in the media is a move by the government to make people think that the opposition isn’t working together,” he said.
Hon. Evans Kanyike also criticized President Museveni for frustrating Ugandans in the bid for a new president.
He questioned why Gen Museveni has to front his son yet Ugandans have been so patient with him to bring his 36-year-rule to an end.
According to the MP, countries which turn to such trends of ‘monarchising’ the country are usually failed states.
“Ugandans have been patient with Museveni for 35 years. Does he have to front his son now? Most countries where such has happened are failed states,” he added.
It’s now a public secret that the first son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba is eyeing the President’s seat. He’s currently traversing the country and holding numerous processions which seemingly are to introduce him to the political scene in the country.
He recently said that to reward his mother for the sacrifices she’s made for him, he can only do so by becoming the President of Uganda. And Muhoozi added that he will definitely be a Ugandan president without a doubt.
