NUP Crisis; Kyagulanyi And Joel Ssenyonyi Dismissed From The Party

A faction of the National Unity Platform under the leadership of Moses Kibalama, the Party Chairman, has banned Hon Robert Kyagulanyi from identifying as the party president. They have banned him from using the party stamp as well as its symbol.

The NUP party Secretary for information, Tugume Gideon made these announcements during the launch of the NUP offices in Chuch Zone in Kabowa.

“If they try to conduct any business using the party symbols, logos, flag, stamp or any other party material they will face the wrath of the law,” Tugume said.

They further told all supporters to disregard Kamwokya as the National Unity Platform head office. Consequently, they dismissed Robert Kyagulanyi and Joel Ssenyonyi and asked them to account for party funds.

Apparently, while changing the name from National Unity, Reconciliation And Development Party (NURP) to NUP, they agreed to accommodate Kyagulanyi as a team member, not the owner.

Kibalama’s faction is accusing Robert Kyagulanyi of receiving money from IPOD, party members, and foreign funders. However, he has failed to account for it.

He is also accused of exhibiting dictatorial management of the NUP affairs. He has also failed to open up structures and suffocate the party organs.

Kibalama stated that they made a memorandum of understanding stating the roles of each member of the party.

However, to his surprise, Kyagulanyi failed to fulfill the MOU. He is now running the party as it belongs to him.
