NUP Supporters Pledge To Help Bobi Wine Raise Tax Levied On His Car By URA

NUP supporters have pledged to help Bobi Wine raise the tax levied on his car by URA. Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has held his car saying they under-taxed it. However, on Bobi Wine’s page, he puts this tax on nothing but politics.

“That’s when they claimed it was undervalued and demanded I return it. Today they wrote asking me to pay this incredibly high sum of money. Like I’ve said before when you fight against Museveni, all state institutions gang up against you because they’ve been personalized.” He wrote.

URA has demanded a tax worth Ugshs337,698,776.25 on the armored car.  According to the letter by URA, Bobi Wine fronted the armored car as a normal car.

“It was also established that the declaration made via Customs reference UGCWH C54 of 12th February 2021 did bare falsehoods of clearing it as a normal vehicle yet it was armored contrary to sections 203 of the East African Community Customs Management Act, 2004.” The letter read in part.

NUP supporters have come out to say they will stand with their president financially. According to them, within no time, this amount will be in their hands.

“URA underestimates Bobi, UGX 300M is heavy on Bajjos, not president-elect.. watch people raise it!” One supporter tweeted.

Bobi Wine said his friends from the diaspora gave him this car for his protection. However, it didn’t come in his name.

“After several attempts at my life, some friends got me a bulletproof car. At first, all was good because it wasn’t in my name. Interpol, Police Forensics and URA all examined it and cleared it. URA levied a tax which we paid. Hell broke loose when they discovered it was my car.”
