Nyege Nyege is the most significant four days international music festival in East Africa given its unique curation that guarantees party atmosphere.

However since it’s inception in 2015 the festival has attracted over thousands of both local and foreign tourists who throng Jinja to celebrate music, dance and art.

According to Derek Debru the Nyege Nyege co founder, the festival was designed to stand for peace, love and abundant joy for underground music, tourism in another beat that has been promoted in the mix.

Debru further says world over cultural tourism and music are the fastest growing segment in tourism business since it’s a people centered trade that sells experience.

However according to arts analysts they do project the festival presented by Uganda Waragi that will revive international festivals such as Tomorrow-land in Belgium, Glastonbury in England among others.

The festival is focused on fueling cultural tourism

“Nyege Nyege is further focused on promoting the arts and cultural tourism and we are happy that the ministry of tourism has been supportive” Debru adds.

Also the festival works hand in hand with the ministry of internal affairs to guarantee a quality experience for all foreign visitors as well as the local Ugandans.

Formerly the event was held at Nile discovery beach in Njeru but later found a new home at Itanda falls and has so far attracted over 15000 both local and foreign travelers since it opened on Thursday.
